Upcoming Events at Cary St. Cafe

Every year, on Christmas day, an ever growing number of amazing folks gathers at Cary St. Cafe to prepare boxed lunches and assemble donated home-baked goods, bottled water, toiletries, hot coffee and other items, to deliver to homeless folks.
Event Details
Our goal is to completely outfit 100 homeless men and women with brand new boots, winter coat, gloves, socks, hat and under clothing. Instead of going to the usual spots, we try to find the ones who typically don't ask for help, the ones who are a little hard to find. We meet some amazing people and spread a lot of love. For most of these folks, this will not only be the only Christmas gifts they will receive, it will most likely be the first new items of clothing they've had in some time. We also include an information sheet to each person we meet that will have detailed instructions on who to call if they need assistance in any way, such as housing, medical treatment, job placement assistance, etc.

There are no strings attached, we all come together from all over the city; religious, non-religious, every race, retired folks, young folks, students, blue collar, white collar workers...with one common goal...to give a few human beings a little bit of love and kindness and dignity on a day where so many have so much and some have nothing.
Last year, we were honored to receive an "Acts of Kindness" award, along with a cash donation, from NBC12. We were also short on our goal of purchasing 100 new coats and boots and Bon Chon Chicken came to our rescue late on Christmas eve with a very generous donation of $500.! So many gave so much, whether it was money, donated items or time, both last year and years past.
Our goal this year is to begin early and try to get a head start on raising money. Please consider donating if you are able to. We are also looking to make connections with any businesses that could possibly give us a discount on brand new coats and boots.
